CSA and New Taipei City government partner to drive cloud computing adoption

New Taipei City, March 12, 2013 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) today announced that it has signed a formal partnership with the New Taipei City Government (NTPC) to drive cloud computing adoption in NTPC and Tawain.

The framework agreement was made official in a signing ceremony held at the City Hall of New Taipei City on March 11. Signing for NTPC was Dr Wu Chao-Ming, Chairperson of Research, Development and Evaluation Commission of New Taipei City Government, and signing for CSA was Aloysius Cheang, Managing Director APAC. As part of the agreement NTPC’s Government Cloud (G-Cloud) will participate in CSA’s Open Certification Framework (OCF) scheme’s pilot implementation.

“We look forward to working with the New Taipei City Government to accelerate cloud computing and to help drive their public efforts for cloud computing adoption, education efforts towards a trusted cloud eco-system,” said Aloysius Cheang. “These efforts are critical to our mission of promoting secure cloud computing for organizations and end users locally and globally.”

Under the framework agreement, NTPC and CSA will engage in a three-year strategic collaboration in an aligned partnership to further the security of cloud computing and build capabilities in the areas of both cloud computing and security in New Taipei City, and using New Taipei city as a hub, drive security and cloud computing development in Taiwan. In addition, NTPC will work through CSA’s Taiwan Chapter to accelerate cloud adoption in the country therefore developing Taiwan into a cloud hub. Also as part of the agreement, NTPC will join the CSA as an affiliate member of the organization.

“This agreement is an exciting one for us as it will allow CSA to make final progress on our STAR Certification, so we are most thankful to the city of Taipei for accepting the OCF-STAR Certification G-Cloud pilot,” said Daniele Catteddu, Managing Director EMEA and Project Director leading the CSA OCF initiative. “We look forward to collaborating with NTPC to use CSA STAR certification scheme and OCF to build trust and confidence in going to the cloud.” Additionally, NTPC will adopt CSA’s Certificate for Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) as a mandatory requirement for engineers engaged in cloud computing and/or security responsibility in the cloud services providers.
